Today is the Birthday of the American poet
Edgar Allan Poe, born January 19th 1809.
In honor of his birth, the PFATT group issued an art Challenge for it's members to
create a piece specifically for this day.
My piece is a hand sculpted Raven made of Paperclay, and he is perched upon
the name POE which is cut from Fir wood then painted and aged.
There is a woodburned rose to symbolize Poe's undying love.
This new work is listed now on Ebay
The Raven...
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'....

I love your raven. There is always so much character and life in your work. They are like a captured moment and it is easy to imagine the movement before and after what you have sculpted. That is no simple feat! Great work.
Would you believe that I never really understood this poem until I saw Homer Simpson do a version of it? I never even watch that show, but since it was a Halloween special, I did. They did an excellent job of it and I finally GOT the Raven!
Loving yours by the way!
